Rudy van Duijnhoven is also active as an instructor for the First Dutch Fly Fishing School (Eerste Nederlandse
Vliegvisschool), an initiative of the Federation of Dutch Fly Fishers. In the last few years, newcomers have during four
Saturdays received education in casting and fishing with a fly rod, tying flies, entomology, etiquette along the
waterside, different species of fish that can be fished for, etc.
For small groups of five or six persons Rudy can also present a workshop of one day concerning fly casting for the
beginner or advanced fly fisherman. Until now these workshops were organised mainly for members of the Dutch Federation
of Fly Fishers, but other interested people can take up contact too.
The program for such a workshop could look like this:
| 9.00 hours | Meeting each other with coffee |
| 9.30 hours | Introduction into the basic overhead cast after which this can be practised by the beginners and advanced casters. |
| 11.00 hours | Coffee and tea |
| 11.15 hours | Beginners will start to practise the roll cast, advanced casters the roll cast in combination with a single haul, which will lead to the distance roll cast. |
| 12.30 hours | Lunch |
| 13.15 hours | Back to the overhead cast, advanced fly casters will practise the double haul now. |
| 14.00 hours | Practising side casting and backhand casting. |
| 15.00 hours | Coffee and tea. |
| 15.15 hours | Other casts that can be practised: reach cast, parachute cast, mending the line in the air. |
| 16.30 hours | Practising of casting a shootinghead |
| 17.00 hours | The end |

On numerous national and international fishing shows Rudy van Duijnhoven has given demonstrations and lectures in
fly casting. As a member of the Board of Governors of the European Fly Fishing Association (EFFA), Rudy will,
together with Sepp Fuchs, Jupp Verstraten, Günter Feuerstein and others, examine people that want to do the exams
for the EFFA Fly Casting Instructor Program. People that do give instruction already for their fly fishing club for
instance, can voluntary take part in this program and if they do pass the exam successfully, call themselves Basic F
ly Casting Instructor or – one step higher – Master Fly Casting Instructor.
On the page with links you can find a reference to this program, which is set up to raise the level of fly casting
instruction in Europe.
